“Serial Killer ‘Cristos’ Jailed for Life” — Shariff Abdulai Sentenced for Killing 23 People

The Wa High Court has sentenced Shariff Abdulai, popularly known as “Cristos,” to life imprisonment with hard labour for the murder of Issah Yahaya and twenty-two others.

The sentence was delivered on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, after the convict admitted to a series of killings across multiple communities. According to court records, Abdulai confessed to murdering sixteen people in Wa, five in Bole, and one each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi.

Police arrested the suspect on October 6, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation that uncovered his alleged involvement in the killings.

After investigations, he was arraigned before the High Court following committal proceedings at the District Magistrate Court, where he pleaded guilty to the charges.

Presiding judge Justice Osei-Wusu Antwi subsequently convicted him and handed down a life sentence with hard labour.

Abdulai will serve his sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.
