Dormaahene Leads Anti-Galamsey Raid in Dormaa Communities

The Dormaahene, Osaagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, has once again demonstrated his commitment to the fight against illegal mining (galamsey) by personally leading a joint operation with the Dormaa Anti-Galamsey Task Force and traditional leaders from the Dormaa Traditional Council.

The swoop, which took place in Dormaa-Akwamu, Akontanim, and Kobedi, resulted in the arrest of three suspected illegal miners.

Authorities also seized seven water pumping machines and other equipment used in the unlawful mining activities.

All suspects and confiscated items have since been handed over to the police for further investigations and prosecution.

The Dormaahene’s direct involvement in the exercise has been widely praised as a strong signal of traditional leadership’s determination to protect land and water bodies from the destructive effects of galamsey.
