Gbese Court Discharges Abu Trica, Two Others; Judge Slams NACOC Over Re-Arrest Attempt

The Gbese District Court has ordered the discharge of Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, along with two other individuals who were previously arrested over alleged cybercrime and money laundering offences.
The development was made public by lawyer and activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor, who disclosed in a social media post that the presiding judge expressed strong displeasure over the conduct of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) during proceedings.
According to Barker-Vormawor, the court had clearly ordered the discharge of the accused persons, but NACOC allegedly attempted to re-arrest them immediately after the ruling, a move that angered the judge.
The judge reportedly reprimanded the officers in open court, stressing that court orders must be respected and that law enforcement agencies cannot act in defiance of judicial decisions.
The trio had earlier been arrested and investigated in connection with alleged cybercrime and money laundering activities, but the court found no sufficient basis to continue holding them, leading to their discharge.
The incident has since sparked conversations online, with many calling for greater respect for due process and the rule of law by state security agencies.
