Ghana Police Arrest Ten Suspects for Creating Fake Online Food Delivery Platforms

The Ghana Police Service has arrested ten suspects for allegedly operating fake online food delivery platforms used to defraud unsuspecting customers across the country.
According to a police statement, the suspects created imitation websites and social media pages posing as popular food delivery brands. Victims were lured into placing orders and making payments through mobile money and other online channels — only to realize later that the platforms were fraudulent.
The arrest, which was made after weeks of intelligence gathering and digital tracking, took place in different parts of Accra and Kumasi. The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to trace other members of the syndicate.
Police have since urged the public to be cautious when ordering food online, emphasizing the importance of verifying vendor legitimacy before making payments. They also advised citizens to report any suspicious platforms or activities to the Cybercrime Unit for swift action.
This latest crackdown forms part of the Ghana Police Service’s broader effort to curb cyber fraud and online scams, which have seen a steady rise in recent months.
