K.T. Hammond: “It’s Unrealistic to Expect the NDC to Fix the Economy in Just 10 Months”

Former Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. K.T. Hammond, has pushed back against criticisms directed at the ruling NDC government over the country’s current economic challenges, saying it is unfair and unrealistic to expect a full economic turnaround in just 10 months.
Speaking in a media interview, Hammond argued that the signs of economic recovery Ghana is beginning to see are not the results of the NDC’s work, but rather the outcome of policies introduced under the previous administration.
According to him, the stabilisation taking place is being powered by ideas and frameworks led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, which he says are still “gradually fixing the economy” from behind the scenes.
“No government can repair an economy within 10 months. What you are seeing now is the effect of policies Dr. Bawumia put in place. These things take time,” Hammond asserted.
His comments have already stirred heated conversations online, with supporters praising him for speaking “truth to timelines,” while critics accuse him of refusing to give the new administration credit.
