Lifetime Ban: Yaw Yeboah Sanctioned by Major League Soccer Over Gambling Scandal

Ghana international Yaw Yeboah has been handed a lifetime ban by Major League Soccer (MLS) after an investigation uncovered extensive gambling activities, including bets on matches involving his own team.

The winger previously played for Columbus Crew before later moving to Los Angeles FC during his time in the league.

According to findings from the MLS investigation, Yeboah and his former teammate Derrick Jones placed several bets on soccer matches during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

One of the most concerning discoveries involved a bet placed on Derrick Jones receiving a yellow card during a match — an event that ultimately occurred during the game.

League authorities concluded that the actions violated strict MLS gambling and integrity rules, leading to the decision to impose the maximum sanction of a lifetime ban on the Ghanaian player.

The case has sparked discussions around sports betting and match integrity, as professional leagues continue to tighten regulations to protect the credibility of the game.
