Man Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Girlfriend After Refusing Sexual Advances

The police have arrested 30-year-old Moses in connection with the alleged murder of his girlfriend, popularly known as Sister Yaa, at Yamoah Nkwanta in the Awutu Senya West District.

According to preliminary reports, the suspect, a resident of Oboman in the Ga South Municipality, visited the deceased to spend the night at her residence. An argument reportedly broke out after Sister Yaa declined his sexual advances.

The situation is said to have escalated into violence, with Moses allegedly attacking her with a machete, inflicting multiple wounds. He reportedly dragged her body outside and crushed her skull with a concrete block, leading to her instant death.

The Chief of Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta, Nai Achiene Acheampong Kuma, who also serves as the Ogyahene of the Awutu Traditional Council, alerted the police after learning of the incident. Officers quickly arrived at the scene, arrested the suspect, and transferred him to the Awutu Ofaakor District Police Command for further investigations.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue pending autopsy and formal identification, as efforts are being made to reach her family.

The tragic incident has once again sparked public concern over gender-based violence, with renewed calls for stronger community awareness, prevention strategies, and support systems to address domestic and intimate partner violence.
