Manhyia Palace Distances Itself from Daddy Lumba’s Funeral Arrangements

The Manhyia Palace has issued a firm clarification regarding the funeral preparations for highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba. According to an official disclaimer, the Palace is not involved in any aspect of the ongoing funeral arrangements and has urged the public to dismiss reports suggesting otherwise.
Recent claims circulating online alleged that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, had summoned members of Daddy Lumba’s family for discussions related to the funeral. The Palace has refuted these reports, describing them as false and misleading.
Manhyia explained that its only previous involvement with the family was to address the invocation of the Great Oath of Otumfuo, which had been used in an attempt to resolve internal disputes among relatives. Beyond that mediation effort, the Palace says it has taken no further role.
“Manhyia urges the general public to disregard any reports attempting to associate the Palace with matters concerning the preparations for the burial and funeral rites of Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba,” the statement noted.
The Palace also revealed that Nananom of the Gyaase Division have withdrawn completely from both the funeral processes and the mediation efforts surrounding the family feud. It stressed that Manhyia does not support any side in the ongoing disputes and wishes to remain neutral.
As the legendary musician’s family continues to navigate internal disagreements, the Palace has made it clear that all funeral decisions lie solely with the family — not Manhyia.
