Neo Akpofure Threatens Legal Action Over Rape Allegation

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Neo Akpofure has issued a legal notice demanding a public retraction and apology from a woman who accused him of sexual assault on social media.
On Tuesday, February 17, an X user alleged that she and Neo were previously involved in a casual relationship during their time at the University of Calabar. She claimed that after discovering he was in a relationship—contrary to what she said was their agreement—she confronted him at his residence, where she alleged the assault occurred.
In a letter dated February 18, 2026, issued by the law firm E.L. Akpofure, SAN & Co., Neo’s legal representatives described the allegations as “entirely false, malicious and defamatory.” They stated that the claims have caused serious reputational damage and exposed their client to public ridicule.
The legal notice demands that the accuser:
• Delete the original post and any related publications
• Issue a clear public retraction
• Publish an apology acknowledging the allegations were untrue
• Provide a written undertaking to refrain from further defamatory statements
The firm warned that failure to comply within 48 hours would result in legal action, including a civil defamation suit under Nigerian law.
The matter has since sparked widespread reactions online, with discussions ongoing as both sides maintain their positions.
