No King in Africa Comes Close to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II” – Nana Aba Anamoah Declares

Outspoken Ghanaian broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah has boldly declared the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as the most powerful king in Africa.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on September 20, 2025, Nana Aba stated that the Ashanti Kingdom stands unmatched in prestige, history, and influence.
She argued that the kingdom’s cultural celebrations uniquely unite people from across Ghana and beyond.
“It’s the way every celebration from the kingdom unites Ghana. People come from all walks of life, it speaks to the unity of this country and the immense power the Ashanti king wields. Masa, sit down! He is the Ashanti king. There is none like him in Africa.
He is the most powerful king in Africa, and we have to respect and revere the Ashantis and this celebration,” she said passionately in Twi.
Nana Aba further praised the ‘Do Te Yie’ funeral rites held in honor of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, describing the event as a world-class display of culture.
“This funeral, you don’t have to be Ashanti to admire what is happening. I’m a Fante, but you cannot take away the culture, history, tradition, and authority of the Ashanti Kingdom. It compares to none,” she added.
Her comments have since sparked debates online, with many hailing her for speaking truth to power, while others argue that Africa’s diverse royal institutions each carry unique legacies.
