Tema Police Intercept 1,613 Suspected Narcotic Parcels in Intelligence-Led Operation

The Tema Regional Police Command has intercepted 1,613 parcels of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs during a targeted intelligence-led operation along the Akosombo–Tema road.

The operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, January 11, 2026, following intelligence received a day earlier indicating that suspected narcotics were being transported from the Volta Region to Tema.

Acting on the tip-off, police mounted surveillance at the Agomeda Junction, where two vehicles — a white Toyota Highlander and a black Mitsubishi Pajero — were intercepted at about 12:45 a.m.

The vehicles were being driven by Isaac Odoi, aged 33, and Kwame Mani, aged 39. A search conducted on both vehicles led to the discovery of several compressed, yellow-wrapped parcels believed to be narcotic drugs.

The suspects were immediately arrested, and both vehicles were escorted to the police station for further examination.

Police say the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with investigations, as efforts continue to trace the source and intended destination of the suspected narcotics.

The Tema Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related crimes, urging the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with credible information.
