
The Office of the Minister for Education has confirmed that Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu and Deputy Minister for Communications and Digital Technology, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, are in stable condition following a road traffic accident on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
The accident reportedly occurred along the Bolgatanga–Tumu Road while the ministers and their respective teams were travelling to the Upper West Region for official engagements.
According to a statement signed by Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Minister for Education, the convoy was en route to mark the 40th anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education when the incident occurred.
The statement assured the public that all members of the convoy survived the crash and are currently receiving medical attention.
“Both Hon. Haruna Iddrisu and Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu are in stable condition,” the statement confirmed, adding that medical professionals are closely monitoring their recovery.
The Office also expressed gratitude to emergency responders, healthcare personnel, and members of the public who offered swift assistance at the scene.
