Threat of Divorce Allegedly Triggered Stabbing of Wife of Former NPP Aspirant – Family Source

Fresh details have emerged surrounding the alleged stabbing involving Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle Constituency, following claims by a family member that a threat of divorce sparked the violent incident.
In an audio recording obtained by NKONKONSA.com, a man identified as the uncle of the victim narrated what he described as events leading up to the stabbing, which occurred in the United States.
According to the uncle, the couple had been involved in what he termed a “minor marital argument.”
During the exchange, the woman allegedly indicated that she might file for divorce if their issues continued—a statement he claims did not sit well with Mr Nortey.
“She told me that during the conversation, Ninoy said if she attempted to divorce him, then it was either he would kill her or kill himself,” the uncle alleged.
The family member further claimed that the confrontation escalated when Mr Nortey allegedly went into the kitchen, causing the woman to retreat into a room and lock the door.
He alleged that Mr Nortey then broke down the door with a knife and stabbed her three times.
Despite her injuries, the woman allegedly pleaded to be taken to the hospital. According to the uncle, Mr Nortey agreed on the condition that she would not disclose that he was responsible for the stabbing.
“She agreed because she was in severe pain, and that was the only way he agreed to take her to the hospital,” he said.
However, the uncle claimed the woman later managed to escape after realising she still had her car keys.
He alleged that she ran to her vehicle, locked herself inside, and drove herself to the hospital where she works, despite being chased by Mr Nortey, who was reportedly still armed with a knife.
At the time the audio was recorded, the uncle said the woman was receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The allegations follow the arrest of Mr Nortey in Pennsylvania, where he has been charged with attempted homicide, possession of an instrument of crime, and tampering with physical evidence.
Police have confirmed that the victim is currently in stable condition, while investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
Authorities have not officially commented on the family’s claims, and the matter is expected to be addressed further as the legal process unfolds.
