Two Nannies Arrested in East Legon for Drugging Babies with Sleeping Pills

In a deeply disturbing case from East Legon, two nannies have been arrested after allegedly giving sleeping pills to babies under their care for more than seven months.

According to police reports, the caregivers confessed that they administered the medication because the babies “did not like sleeping.” The drugs were reportedly given without the knowledge or consent of the children’s parents.

The prolonged use of the pills has left serious side effects on some of the children, who are now exhibiting troubling behavioral patterns, including head-banging, restlessness, and self-harm tendencies.

Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine how the nannies obtained the medication and to ensure that all affected children receive immediate medical attention and psychological care.

The shocking revelation has sparked outrage among parents in the community, with many calling for tighter screening and monitoring of domestic caregivers to prevent future abuse.

This incident highlights growing concerns about child safety and the trust placed in nannies and home caregivers across Ghana’s urban communities.
