Two Suspects Arrested Over Serial Killings in Wa — One Confesses to 16 Murders

The Upper West Regional Police Command has finally made a major breakthrough in the mysterious serial killings that have haunted residents of the Wa Municipality since 2021.
Police have arrested 30-year-old ex-convict Sherif Abdulai and 25-year-old Mahamuda Lamin in connection with a string of gruesome murders targeting night watchmen and mentally challenged individuals.
The suspects were picked up on October 3 and 6, 2025, during investigations into the recent killing of 55-year-old security man, Issah Yahaya, at Wa-Dobile.
During the operation, police recovered several of the victim’s belongings — including his mobile phone, radio, and bicycle — from Abdulai. Officers also retrieved a blood-stained cement block and knife believed to have been used in the attack.
According to the police, Abdulai confessed to killing 16 people across the Wa Municipality, revealing a disturbing pattern in which his victims were either strangled or bludgeoned with cement blocks.
Both Abdulai and Lamin are currently in police custody and assisting investigators as the probe continues into one of Ghana’s most shocking crime sprees in recent years.
Residents of Wa, who have lived in fear for years due to the recurring murders, have expressed relief following the arrests, hoping justice will finally be served for the victims and their families.
