“We Need a President with Mental Strength, Not One Who Needs Injections to Attend Cabinet Meetings” — Dr. Bawumia’s Aide Fires Shots

Aide to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kwesi Botchway Jnr, has stirred political debate after taking a sharp dig at an unnamed presidential candidate, suggesting that Ghana deserves a leader with “mental strength and resilience” — not one allegedly reliant on “injections to attend cabinet meetings.”

Speaking during a political engagement in Accra, Botchway Jnr emphasized that the nation’s next leader must possess the clarity, discipline, and stamina to steer Ghana through its economic and governance challenges.

“Ghana doesn’t need sympathy leadership. We need a president with mental strength, not one who needs injections to attend cabinet meetings,” he said, drawing mixed reactions across social media.

While he did not mention any specific individual, many online users have speculated that the comment was directed at a leading opposition figure, igniting heated exchanges between supporters of the major political parties.

Political analysts say such remarks signal a more aggressive campaign tone as the 2026 general elections draw closer.
