“YenSuroAhunahuna”- NPP Supporters Storm Accra in Fiery Protest Against Mahama Government

Accra was painted in party colors yesterday as hundreds of opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters stormed the streets in a heated demonstration dubbed the “YenSuroAhunahuna Protest.”
Chanting, waving placards, and draped in red, the charged crowd accused the John Mahama-led administration of state-sponsored harassment, intimidation, and abuse of power. According to protest leaders, ordinary Ghanaians and NPP loyalists have had “enough of the fear tactics” and are now ready to face government head-on.
Placards bore inscriptions such as “Stop the Harassment,” “We Won’t Be Intimidated,” and “Mahama, Respect Democracy.” The protesters marched through major streets of Accra, drawing curious onlookers and heavy police presence.
NPP spokespersons addressing the crowd described the demo as “a warning shot” to the ruling party, insisting that the opposition will not sit quietly while, in their words, “democracy is strangled by power abuse.”
On the other side, government officials have dismissed the protest as political theater, claiming that the NPP is only playing the victim card ahead of the 2026 elections.
Whether political drama or genuine people’s uprising, one thing was clear — the “YenSuroAhunahuna” protest shook the capital and set the stage for more fiery confrontations in Ghana’s political arena.
